I’m proud to share some news about the Mencap Training Academy - Our latest Ofsted inspection has rated us ‘Good’ overall and reflects how far we’ve come since 2022. This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible dedication of our staff and the determination of our amazing learners.

Mencap Training Academy provides young people aged 16 to 24 with a learning disability the tools, confidence, and skills they need to succeed in the workplace. Through our pre-internship and supported internship programs, we help learners develop essential workplace skills, gain real-world experience , and grow into their potential.

While we’re celebrating this success, we know there’s always room to grow. Ofsted’s feedback has given us clear goals, including providing even more support for our tutors and improving success rates in English and maths.

We’re more motivated than ever to empower young people with a learning disability and help them achieve their dreams.

Aaron successfully completed the supported internship programme at the Mencap Training Academy. During his time, he gained valuable work experience at Howdens, which led to the exciting accomplishment of securing a paid job.

"Over time, I became comfortable and got to know the people —they were funny, professional, and very welcoming. The skills I've learned are about people: talking to them and developing people skills. I have also got an understanding of all the different codes—where to put them and how to stack them."
